It's important to know that his stuttering wasn't / isn't typical childhood onset stuttering. If I'm remembering correctly, he said it was the result of physical trauma to his larynx (hit by a baseball or something). For those of us who have childhood onset stuttering it's an apples to oranges comparison. He definitely brought some great awareness and humor to stuttering, but the cause of his stuttering is quite different and therefore expecting to achieve freedom from stuttering because he has may result in false hopes. I don't want to be a downer, just want people to have realistic expectations. I encourage everyone to find the hope they need to get through the challenges of stuttering, but I've also seen the toll that disappointment from crushed false hopes brings. It's a crummy feeling. I've been there. It sometimes feels like more than two steps back.
