There are some kind people who are so open minded and kind hearted that they couldn't imagine people being mean about someone who stutters. I had a male friend in college who didn't believe that people would make fun of my stutter. This was my first semester of college and my stutter was super severe which made saying my name and meeting people extra stressful. I was telling my friend about this, and he didn't really get it. Then, that night some other guy at a get together was convinced that I was 'haunted' by the way I was blocking on a few words. He was adamant that I was making ghost noises. At that point, my friend got irritated and told the guy to leave me alone. He was like, wow you are right, people can be really mean.
