Easier said than done but you need to start not giving a shit about what they say and their comments and also address the very obvious comments (leave this last part for when you really don't give a shit about it so you have the confidence needed in case it scalates or it may backfire hard tho) My stuttering is also very feeling-driven and that works for me (it both reduces how badly I stutter, and minimice the psychological impact of the stutter that remains), so it might work for you. The small town mentality could be a problem tho. I don't live in one of these, so no idea how to deal with that. You are probably going to learn to stand up for yourself and start making friends that may back you up tho.
