As a hostess, you should prepare yourself for ANY type of customer and always have a few quips ready to react with. Some people enter a place angry or start fighting their spouse minutes after being seated. It's a tough job. Always keep the conversation positive. If someone says you're speaking too slowly say "oh my gosh i'm so sorry, the last table said I was talking too fast!" Don't overthink it, just keep it professional + a hint of playful and you can earn and learn a lot. As for the cute guy, just say hi.
