This is generally the sentiment I like to stick with. Stuttering is a relatively rare condition, so in my experience, when people respond to it in a strange or rude way, it's usually because they just aren't sure how to react. That's not to say you can't try to correct them on how you'd prefer they respond, but getting overly worked up about this stuff isn't worth the effort imo. Most people aren't trying to be mean.
