Of course life would be better without a stutter. But we don’t have a choice in the matter, so you adjust and will get by great. If reading aloud in a book club makes you happy, go for it. My point is, these situations are more often optional as you get older, not mandatory like younger years. I remember one time I apologized for stuttering to a stranger and she said “hey, who cares, everyone has something.” It hit home to me. This is our something, but everyone has some obstacle they have to live with. Life isn’t fair to most people. I hate stuttering, and some days I feel down, but most days it doesn’t define my life.
