I definitely think it's a factor, my mam has some mild form and my uncle used stutter (not sure if he still does) and my mam mentioned one or more of my aunts having a stutter to some (?mild) degree but I never really asked about it. I never suffered any head trauma or particular psychological trauma that I could attribute to a speech impediment either.
