I’m not trying to get her fired or anything but there’s no need for jokes in the work place. If I was hobbling would she say, ohhh can’t walk normal? If I were using a pole to walk would she say ohh can’t see well? As much as you say it’s different it’s really not. I have a disability whether clear on the surface or not. I’ve tried my whole life to get more fluent and I really have. I have 0 patience for people that make a joke about speech in any manor. I’ve gone through too many anger filled and depressed filled days from someone mocking me, saying did you forget your name, or just straight up laughing. If I walk into an establishment in a good mood, and walk out in a bad mood, that is their responsibility. They just need a talking to. That is HR 101 And damn right I’m going to try and get something out of it. If I’m going to be made fun of I demand compensation. If they don’t then I will never go there again. Simple as that. Why is it not ok for people to make fun of every other disability out there. We’ve been in the shadow too long. We need to make it aware that stuttering is a real thing and it affects people deeper than a fluent speaker could ever understand.
