I used to be so embarrassed about my stutter when I was younger. After my second round of speech therapy, I embraced my stutter a lot since then and I find it easier to let people know I have a stutter. When someone pulls the ‘did you forget your name? Hahaha’ I’ll just come right back with ‘I have a stutter’ and it’ll stop them straight away. It’s the same with customers at work who make fun of my stutter, I just simply tell them. I’ve learned that other people simply need to be patient when I speak. You shouldn’t have to put yourself under stress or anxiety when talking. You have a disability. It’s down to others to be patient with YOU.
