I use to do the same before job interviews. After a bad experience I decided to start by saying (casually and confidently) “just to let you know I have a speech impediment, in case you hear a pause or need me to repeat something. I did so this week on a call to my bank ( as i just felt tension) and people are super cool, and puts me at ease. Disclosure over alcohol works better in the long run.
