I have to say that I admire your courage in joining the USMC to be a radio operator. I’ve never imagined that I could ever do a job like that. Also, thank you for your service. I really mean it. I’m an SLP near a major military base and I work with a lot of military families. I’m reminded everyday of what you guys sacrifice so that I can have a cushy, safe, job like speech therapist. The first comment was right in that she is doing things outside of best practice. However, if you are experiencing results and not being harmed or taken advantage of, then I don’t see why you should stop. Honestly, research knows near fuckall about what causes and how best to treat stuttering. And what they “think”they know, I don’t even agree with. My mentor said it best: “Take something complicated like heart surgery, they make huge advancements in research every 5-10 years. In stuttering we’ve been doing the same things for the last 100 years. We still don’t know the cause or the treatment. Maybe it’s time to do something different.”
