Everyone has a stutter. Of course, it’s not always verbal. Learn to be comfortable with your stutter. People will respect you. When you learn to stutter with confidence, it makes a great story in interviews being able to showcase your resilience. On a personal level, I used to be a State Trooper. I had a field training officer. He was a total jack when it came to my stutter. 8 weeks of having to hear “Spit it out”, “fix it”, “you’re devolving. How come you improved and now you’re stuttering again?”. On my final night of FTO before he signed me off he looked me in the eye and told me “You’re a “mother****ing State Trooper. You have a stutter. It doesn’t matter how long it takes you to talk, say what you have to say”. Did I magically not stutter after hearing that? No. But it’s my motivation to not let anything stop me from living my best life.
