And I’m here to disagree…again. I’m in the never disclose camp. (Except for major things, like to law enforcement or a judge in court) One: it’s almost comical to make a speech disabled person disclose their speech disability by….using words. When i was younger, I could barely say the word “stutter”. Now as an adult and with lots of metal work, I am much more fluent. Two: I’m sorry to be a pessimist, but in reality, you are subconsciously and automatically placed into a “less than” category when you have a “disability”. I would have received far less chances in my work career, made much less money, and had low self esteem if I disclosed my stutter at my various employers. This doesn’t even get into my dating life with the female species. People discriminate, intentionally or not. Three: People do not owe us an obligation of their time. Time is finite & valuable and if I am wasting somebody’s time, they should have the right to walk away. Nobody owes me their time. Yes, this doesn’t relate exactly with ordering food. But it shows some reasoning on why to not disclose.
