Unfortunately, stuttering is one of the only disorders/disabilities that I can think of that is still openly made fun of. It's important to spread awareness but also not think of yourself as a victim. I think its important to disclose your stutter only if you want to disclose it because it makes YOU feel better. Don't feel like you have to tell people to make them "comfortable". It's YOUR stutter. You control the message. If people don't have the common courtesy to be respectful while you're talking then screw them. I definitely understand your frustration though. It can suck at times. Just recently found this subreddit and very happy that I did.
