>I'm not coming at you This is a good discussion. I believe your initial question "It's fixed for you, because your made your mind believe that you can do it through therapy?" is deeply flawed. And my kneejerk reaction was to come at *you.* lol. No offense taken, friend. And none intended. Baseball is an analogy. I often use working out or learning a musical instrument as analogies as well. If you don't like baseball, use music. It's more akin to speech. You hear musicians play fluently because of the work they put into it. You also hear musicians stumble or block, much like stuttering. I agree, walking is a natural skill. A child will learn to stand and walk without any instruction. We disagree on speech. Speech is no more of a natural skill than playing an instrument or hitting that baseball. It's learned. If you never expose a child to speech, they aren't going to learn to speak. >Why is there a need to control natural skill? To improve. To become better, more efficient. You mentioned breathing. Breathing was a core skill I learned as part of speech therapy. It's critical to fluency. As I was developing my fluency, my breathing was a frequent stumbling block. >just learning more about stuttering through stories & books What drives your interest?
