It’s genetic for me too, buddy. I have a job and friends. I am well educated, well accomplished. My stutter, while being an hurdle in my life, hasn’t stopped me from succeeding. Yet, I still can’t say “cookie” without feeling tense from the apprehension and effort. Well, it doesn’t matter. All I can say to you is, life is what you make of it. Despite the cards that we were dealt, we can only try our best. I have hope that it will get better for you, as it did for me. And an important question is, what do you mean by “getting better?” You mean your fluency? Or your ability to realize your potential as a person? If the former, maybe. It got better for me, but I still stutter. If the latter, maybe. Life is what you make of it.
