Have you ever been to the National stuttering Association conference? That was the start of accepting my stutter. You’re surrounded by other people who stutter and understand you and you feel so supported. I have gone every year since the first time I went. Acceptance is the first step. I would also disclose to people ahead of time that I had a stutter if I felt like I was going to have a hard time. People were always very accepting and kind about it. There was a time when I wouldn’t even call to get a manicure appointment. Now I’ve done things like toastmasters, I spoke at an Nsa conference… I do the things that scare me because that’s where the growth is. We can talk more about this if you want to. Stop resisting your stutter. There are ways to speak with less effort and smoother speech. You got this!
