One of my coping mechanisms when I am hopelessly stuck is to stop, let out an audible sigh, look at the person I am talking to, smile/chuckle and go "I can't speak for shit today can I?" More often than not it looses the tension a little both for me and the person I am talking to, which again makes me stutter a little less.
