I’m 51 and by around 38 I passed as fluent with most people-ie they couldn’t tell I stuttered. I still had blocks but I had mastered enough tools by then to appear fluent. I still stutter pretty badly in groups such that I avoid group social scenarios when I can. I also stutter like I did as a teenager when I speak to my parents which is incredibly frustrating.
