A few months ago I was in the same boat. Im a software professional, so most of my time is spent writing/testing code. My interactions with others are limited to a daily standup in which I have to speak for about a minute. Thank god for that. I spent about 2 months looking for a job. I can honestly say my speech was the main reason I didnt get most of those jobs I interviewed with, especially a job I really wanted. Here are some tips that helped me 1) Be upfront about your speech impediment. I found that that creates a much more beneficial environment to conduct the interview in. 2) Anticipate the questions they will ask you, and be ready with the answer which you have rehearsed. 3) Understand that you are not alone in this constant persistent struggle. That is pretty much all I got. This disability & its psychological impacts are deeply mis-understood by the general public. Being trapped in your mind is a hell of a thing. Being trapped no matter where you go, where you are, what you do, being trapped all day in the world. Its a mind fuck and it has deep, lasting, psychological impacts.
