Look up secondary behaviors of stutter. Your character should have a few of them and they should not correlate with any emotion. For example, if your character has facial grimacing as a secondary behavior, it should not correlate with moments of anger. If your character has blinking as a secondary, it should not correlate with moments of thinking hard.
