I agree we should not play the victim card and blame all of our misfortunes on our stutter. But to imply adult stutterers do not get discriminated against solely because of our stutter is ignorance. I have literally been told my stutter was the sole reason they did not want to hire me. When hired for another job, I was told on the first day by my boss that because I stutter, they can not envision me in management. I had a woman I dated hang up on me, but before she did, she told me, sorry I cant take listening to you talk anymore. I had a judge call.me out on my stutter in front of 100s of people and asked me if "I forgot why I was there" I can go on. My point is, that in those cases it WAS because of my stutter. I wasnt catastrophizing, I wasnt misreading the situation, I did not do anything to incite those actions except to speak disfluently. Its hard to accept, but sometimes when you wish "its not about your stutter", sadly it is. it's like a bad dream. This is why it has taken me decades to accept my stutter. I am glad you have found "simple" ways to overcome, but please understand it's not as easy for everyone. I understand why you get tired of the "woe is me" posts here, but please understand we are all on different stages of our stuttering journey.
