I agree, we constantly think about it. The nature of this problem is that it completely captures our attention. Every time we speak, we worry in advance about stuttering because we’re afraid of it. This fear takes over completely and keeps reminding us about stuttering over and over again. It’s like a mental fixation that never goes away — a vicious circle: stress leads to stuttering, stuttering increases stress, and it goes on endlessly. I focused all my attention on building confidence when interacting with people. I’ve done a tremendous amount of work on myself. Now, I don’t even think about stuttering. I know it won’t happen, and I’ve completely forgotten about the fear. But I clearly remember those feelings, because I struggled with this all my life.
