Sorry to be blunt about this reply but you have too understand the feeling of "shame" most likely is steaming from self doubt and the fear of the visual reaction to your speech impediment. Everyone wants to be independent and figure things out on their own but that isn't how the world works in a nutshell. These speech classes arent just here for you to feel a certain kind of way its preparation for the future. You dont want the heavy burden of "Shame" around when trying to get in that college that you always wanted or that job you always strived for. You need too learn how to communicate with others; even though society has accomodations for people who struggle with social anxiety; because at the end of the day its starts with you. Never be ashamed of focusing and tending on an issue that revolves around your life. Now if you want to stay in this mindset, you are going to end up like me, once again in isolation. If you focus on the problem now at this moment of your life, I promise you after grade school you are going to enjoy alot more of your life. Think about it, if you quit now, you quit on yourself or anyone else who have compassion for you. Most importantly dont let yourself down, you are what really matters at the end of the day, if you know it or dont know it.
