So I read both this edition and the lastest book “ how to stop stuttering and love speaking “ With the points you disagree with.. 1. How do techniques reinforce the stutter cycle exactly? One of the main concepts of the program is not hear disfluency. We want to get rid of the habit of stuttering and replace them with fluent speaking memories. How we go about doing this is to avoid words/situations where we might appear speech disable and reading daily. The new book offers “speech plans” where the main principles are generally “Less, link, stop”. I personally used this speech plan 24/7 especially stops and beat my stutter doing this in a month. Besides talking faster (I don’t recommend ) all other ones are a must. Some of the techniques you listed are some that public speakers use. 2. Stutters are waiting out of fear because they are already planning words in their head and that is causing them to have really bad anxiety dwelling on that first word. In a stutters mind we stutter because we plan and get anxious of that first word. 3. I beat appearing speech disable by focusing on the message. After that I still had repeat of words often and being expressive overwrote the stutter. The main reason behind it was because I was distracted and not focused on that word. I shifted my awareness to how I wanted to say it that I wasn’t paying attention to that feared word. Stutters.. They are trying to distract themselves from but they really can’t and are being so stubborn focusing on that word and trying to force it out. Doing this for so many times made it a habit so a big key right here is stop talking completely until you stop thinking about that word then speak or use a crutch/tecnique
