It’s funny, you may not have ever met another stutterer, but you have definitely never met a completely fluent speaker either, as everybody has their own idiosyncrasies and times of poor speech, especially people in high power like politicians haha, I’ve been surprised by the number of communities as well, and yeah we’ve all indeed gone through and are going through the same things. In the past I’ve only ever tried some minor speech therapy at the age of 5 and at the age of 13, and I got nothing out of either of them. With McGuire, I feel I’ve come a long way and I now feel a lot more confident about my speech and even my self esteem. I really wish I found out about them in high school, as I missed so many experiences growing up that my speech held me back from, whereas at uni I now have a lot more confidence and control to be able to socialise with people. Since joining, working has also changed too, I worked in fast food in high school and yeah I didn’t have the best of experiences. Now I’m also in fast food and I have enough control to be able to interact with colleagues and customers. The thing about McGuire is that the technique is less of a focus on being fluent, and more of a focus on being eloquent with the way we speak, and saying what we wish to say and when we want to say it, without using any tricks. After attending a McGuire Programme course, you’ll learn the technique, and afterwards your given a whole support network of people that you can call and Skype across the globe 24/7 to practice with. Depending on your location, there are also fortnightly sessions run in major cities where people come together to practice and support each other. There’s also a [book](https://itunes.apple.com/au/book/beyond-stuttering/id909997982?mt=11) that you’re given that goes through the ins and outs of the whole thing. I’d definitely recommend for anyone who stutters to at least look into it. I hate so be a plugger but it’s been a big game changer in my life haha Let me know how you get on, and I’m happy to answer any of your questions.
