Be upfront about your stutter. I usually say something along the lines of: “Before we start, I wanted to let you know that I have a stutter. It may make itself apparent during this conversation, and wanted to let you know as we begin.” It’s a simple starter, but it allows me to take ownership of it so the other person isn’t left wondering what’s going on. It also makes me feel good about myself. I can feel a release in my body once I do so
