Making others feel comfortable is a good trait to possess but stuttering creates an obstacle achieving that. By default, most people will initially be uncomfortable with a stutter. It takes confidence on the stutterers part to engage a person in conversation knowing that that person will need to get over a hump with you. It's like *you* are making *them* do that. "Hey I know I'm awkward, but once we talk you'll probably like me if *you* can get over this." It's not just the stutterer that has to have confidence, it's confidence in the other person as well, to accept you. That's alot of trust in a stranger, that's why it's so stressful -and brave. '
