if you have a disabilities center , I’d recommend paying it a visit. i have accommodations that i don’t have to do any speeches or talk in front of anyone by myself. im sorry to say but if “your friends” were laughing at you they are not your friends. everyone in that room should be ashamed and this should definitely be reported to someone. they are grown adults. it takes an immense amount of courage to get up in front of a room and speak for someone who speaks fluently and it’s a million times harder when you struggle to get words out. ik it’s easier said then done but don’t let a group of inconsiderate assholes prevent you from getting an education. that’s what university is — to learn material. we can only control what we think of ourselves (which is something I’m trying my best to learn myself) so if you have a good foundation of yourself then what others think shouldn’t matter. don’t give them control and show them you aren’t someone to quit. ofc take time to yourself and cope properly but don’t let them win. im so sorry this happened. i can’t imagine how much of a toll this is taking on your self view and abilities to speak in front of others.
