In didn't go on SSI but I signed up with the disability office in college. Biggest mistake of my life. I signed up with it so I wouldn't have to give presentations in front of an entire class of people. Instead I was allowed to present to my professor without anyone else in the room. My speech was just as bad, if not worse than usual. Plus it made me feel like a failure for relying on a disability office. I never requested special accommodation again. Interviewing is incredibly difficult for me and I end up blocking pretty severely and often. But I get through it and finally found a job after being unemployed for 6 months. I suggest try speech therapy with an SLP that deals with stuttering. They'll help you practice techniques and learn to accept your stuttering. Good luck.
