In the first couple months with my now-wife, I was much more better fluency. I put a lot of focus on it and could manage through ordering, talking on the phone, and even flirting, things where I would generally stutter. Regardless, she knew I stuttered before hand since we had mutual friends. She’s always been great at responding when I’m stuttering, either letting me finish or helping me if I look to her for help. That’s said, I think I have mild stuttering 80% of the time, but those other 20% are moderate to severe where I know it’ll be long blocks or constant word avoidance to get my message across. Most adults I have ever met respond properly to my stuttering. No jokes, not rushing or finishing my sentence. Oddly enough, my mom and MIL are the ones that don’t respond well.
