The speech therapy that I’ve received was not remotely around acceptance. I was born with a severe neurological stutter, and I’ve had times in my life where I could barely get out two words without a 10 second block. The humiliation and embarrassment I’ve felt has been immeasurable. However, I can confidently say that through PROPER therapy and techniques, I have entered a period of remission. As far as I’m aware, a neurological stutter like most of ours is caused by an underdeveloped Broca’s area and causes neurons to fire but not be processed correctly which results in a stutter. However, when singing or voice acting, you use a completely different part of your brain and seem to stop stuttering completely. It is 100% possible to train yourself to use this other part of your brain almost all the time so that you are mostly completely fluent. I’ve done it before, and I’m doing it again.
