I have had this happen a few times, too. I think some of it may be due to that many times we feel self-conscious about our stutter and we may be comparing our stutters (for example, how you brought up that you were talking clearly and the other guy was stuttering or you like meeting "fellow mild stutterers" -- do you only like meeting mild stutterers? what if you meet a stutterer that blocks on every word for a minute? and does it even matter how you are communicating vs. the other person?). I think by nature of the stutter we are a little more introverted, too. And bringing up the stutter can sometimes be awkward, too, it can be a little touchy, and if not done properly, can seem a bit rude, you know? I'm not trying to be rude with any of this, by the way, just sharing some thoughts! I think it's an interesting topic to bring up. :-D
