It's more common in males. I think the ratio is 1female:4-5males. Not sure about countries, just that 1% of the worlds adult population stutters. Presumably countries with a higher population also have a higher population of stutters. I've not heard anything that being of a particular ethnicity or region makes it more likely/common.
