SLP here, actually just took a course that talked about this. It’s kinda the standard, as currently, there isn’t a gold standard for treatment. Additionally, as one of my professors stated it, the evidence around reducing/treating stuttering indicates poor efficacy. As they put it, if you had twins that both stuttered, and you provided speech services to one and the other you left to their own devices, both would show similar trajectories regarding stuttering frequency. So, we’re currently taught to bake in acceptance as part of our therapy approach. Probably not the response you’re looking for, I stutter myself so it definitely resonated with me.
