Stuttering and empathy

Stuttering and empathy I've had a stutter since I was 3-4. It's probably best described as relatively mild. Some days it's bad, some days you wouldn't even notice. There are a few words or sounds that regularly cause me blocks. I've been in therapy recently for non-stuttering issues, and we've explored my general lack of empathy, and low emotional intelligence. The therapist raised the idea that perhaps my stutter has made me very non-empathetic. If I feel like I am afflicted by an issue that regularly causes me suffering (my stutter), why should I be concerned with the problems of others? There could be something there. Just curious if anyone else feels like they have a lack of empathy, and whether they think that could be connected to their speech.
