I think pretending to be a "happy stutterer" and others should tolerate me for who I am (while I don't tolerate those people, who feel awkward and uncomfortable listening to a stutterer) is the new norm in stuttering communities. No surprise I left most of them because of that. Also shaming those who actually wants to change their speech because it's more convenient, and they feel that if they could walk and run smoothly, maybe they shouldn't limping "proudly", is nonsense. Your example about being overweight was on point, I feel the same attitude regarding stuttering.
