YES. I especially hate the “hehe, you forgot your own name or something?”. I’ve learned if I stutter through something really embarrassing, I repeat it immediately afterwards, and I may sometimes even spell it unwarranted if it’s my name or my email or something the other person is needing to take down. I find that repeating myself immediately afterwards I almost never stutter through and it earns the respect from the listener, as I can regain control of the conversation. I usually pair this with maintaining direct eye contact and not chuckling or blushing, but staying as stern as possible so as to communicate “this is not a joke”. Finally, if I feel the person is an extra-jerk, I’ll add “I have a speech-impediment.” Then I finish my thought. This helps me to, again, regain control of the conversation and not allow the other person to walk away unscathed if they chuckled or smiled or started to treat me “nicer” just because they think they’re superior now.
