I had a severe stutter most of my life and was also in therapy that didn't help most of my life (>15 years). Eventually I found one that did. It was different in that it didn't focus on fluency or control. It focused on allowing me to stutter without struggle and so that i can say everything I want to say and be who I am. I would say don't give up on therapy. Most of it is honestly pretty bad, but it's often because therapists don't know better. They don't understand stuttering. But there are some that do and they can really help. If you live in the states, I'd say connect with the national stuttering association. Also see if your school has a speech and language department and if they do anything with stuttering. I'd wait before giving up on doing what you want to do. That's what I did when I entered college. I chose a career based on low chance of speaking and ended up changing careers years later. FYI just about all professions require speaking. I know lawyers, doctors, nurses, etc all of whom still have pronounced stutterers but they've been able to make it work. Don't give up yet. Find good therapy and get help.
