I'm a teacher and I stutter. I'm in my 3rd year teaching and about 2 years ago, started speech therapy and letting myself stutter more openly but I still hide it too. For interview advice, do what's been said and reframe it as a positive and a way to connect with students and/or enhance your humanity. And know your stuff-you gotta know your stuff or show that you will learn if you wanna teach. You can be an effective teacher and stutter. It is often hard to stutter and teach. I've found it helpful to normalize it for me and my students(5th-8th grade) and it eases things. It still sucks but it becomes less of the focus and more of just how I am to the kids. If they're used to my speech, they can focus on what we're learning (hopefully!). I also strongly believe that it's important for students to see adults deal with a variety of situations and emotions. Letting them see me get frustrated, breeze past things, make mistakes, etc. is something I'm working on. I want them to see me be human, even when I hate being human, and that often means seeing me stutter. It's hard and I don't do a great job most of the time, but I'm trying, and hoping, and learning. Good luck with things, drop me a line if you need anything :-)
