OK, looks like we are both adult people who stutter. You, as an adult, maybe no longer have fear of speaking. I don't either anymore, but when I was a teen, I had the fear of speaking because I stuttered. I didn't want kids to laugh at me. So I hid it as long as I could, even into my 20's. That hiding was not good for me; it made me withdraw from many things. I guess I was trying to make the point in that school situation to let the teacher know first of all, and then maybe to let the other students know what is going on. It's ok to be blunt. I will be blunt also. I'm not sure speaking up in class has been proven to be a failure. I have kept up with research and I've never read that.
