No worries - As a student during the school year, I worked as a short-order/line cook and as a dishwasher in a restaurant and then as a bank teller. I also worked landscaping during the summers. To be a bartender/server/wait staff who serves alcohol in Ontario, one needs to have a Smart Serve certification - it isn't hard to get (you can do a 3 hour online course now), but it's one thing to consider if you want to work "front of house" in a restaurant (French thing may be an issue though). I'm actually meeting up with Ottawa-based family over the holidays - I'll ask them if they have any more specific pointers. Another thing, Ottawa has some tight-knit communities (Jewish, Somali, etc), so if you are part of a particular group and can reach out to those in Ottawa, you'll likely be able to find some good work leads.
