I know this was nine years ago but I just wanted to say wow thank you so, so much for this post. I’m F26 and not only can I resonate so much with the harsh words from when I was a kid but also with the way my tongue actually locks in when I try to say words with consonants. When I read the part about how it’s maybe actually about the tongue and not about synapses in the brain I actually started crying (could be cause I got my period today and a little emotional) but something inside me just clicked. Yes, when I get stressed I sometimes stutter more but that can easily be a somatic reaction from tongue and not from the verbal part of the brain. I’m going to keep these tips close to me every time I feel locked, but honestly I feel like it’s helped me enormously already. Thank you ❤️
