At a burger place in upstate NY I was struggling with my name and all I got out was "Um." While clearly still trying to say my name, the cashier asked if "Um" was my name. Needless to say that got me angry enough to get my name out. I like to think they had just never experienced anyone with a stutter so it was a learning experience rather than an instance of just being disrespectful. Glass half full - right?
