Stutter/Stammer only with strangers Hi, I’ve had a stutter/stammer since I was young (usually will stammer instead of suttering kind of like a defensive mechanism) and I’ve noticed over the year that it mainly occurs with strangers and when I’m stressed. For example I can have full on conversations with family/friends without any problem but as soon as I speak to a stranger I will feel the stutter build up and I will have anxiety that I will stutter. I’ve always been the introverted kind around people I don’t know and I probably have social anxiety. I’m 27M and in my profession I have to meet new clients on a daily basis so the stutter really limits me in my professional life. I also noticed that some days/weeks my confidence will be through the roof and I will have not a single stutter but some other times I just feel it in my chest and I can’t go by 5 minutes without stammering. I wonder if there’s some techniques that might help alleviate that. I also noticed that it has gotten worse since COVID and the social isolation that it brought.
