Is there a link between stuttering and asthma Both of them are genetic in my case - my dad has stutter every once in a while and my mom has been asthmatic since she was young. Out of the three kids, I'm the only one who not only has one of them but BOTH! When I was about 3 years old when I was diagnosed with asthma after an attack and I was about 5 when I was diagnosed with stuttering. When I was in elementary school / high school age both were real issues for me. I had a bad stutter and my asthma would trigger around the autumn and especially the spring season. I remember when I was young sometimes when I stutter (and I was having a hard time getting my words out) it would sometimes take my breath away and I would need to take a break and gasp for air with the help of my inhaler. I'm an adult now and my stutter is almost not noticeable - except if I get stressed out, angry, emotional and tired (like my dad) and my asthma is still an issue. But I'm curious if there's any link between stuttering and asthma?
