I appreciate your take on it! Fluency is definitely a goal worth aiming for. It definitely was what was expected to be achieved in speech therapy when I was younger. But I think as I grow up, fluency just isn’t practical for me with my stutter. I used to just change out every word I said to something I knew I didn’t stutter on to achieve fluency. But then I realized I ended up not saying what I actually wanted to in order to strive for fluency. To me, it means more to be let go of the expectation of fluency and just say what I actually want to even if I know it’s going to come out choppy. But everyone’s journey is different with stuttering and speech impediments!
