I have pretty severe anxiety. It’s not caused by my stuttering, I’m just anxious all the time for no reason. I try to avoid situations where I have to speak because it just takes my already high level of anxiety (I have a resting heart rate of about 120 bpm) and puts it even higher to the point where I’m sweating, visibly shaking, dizzy, and nauseous. It’s just no use trying to conquer my stuttering if every speaking situation results in that. It won’t be healthy to put my body through that all the time. I need to treat my anxiety first but the problem is my mom doesn’t believe in mental health conditions so she won’t take me to see a psychiatrist. Right now, all I can do is avoid situations that make it worse.
