Is there anyway to shorten your shift? 11 hours seems a bit extreme. But that depends on how high the call volume is. I can't really give you advice. I have worked in a call center and I definitely stuttered on calls, but no one made any comments on it. Did you already go through training? Also it's easier to talk to strangers when you realize that you are just a voice on the phone and these people have no idea who you are. Once the call ends they forget about your existence and you forget about theirs. The way I handled it was putting myself in robot mode...just pretend I'm not a human when talking to those people lol. Also I found it helps to stick to set phrases/scripts and not deviate to far from that. I'm not sure what kind of call center you'll be working at (sales? customer service?) but many require you to stick to a strict format when taking calls. You have to use a certain greeting, say a certain script and end the call in a certain manner. As long as you have those phrases/scripts down you'll just have to repeat the same things over and over again. Soon enough it'll become so routine that it will be no problem. If the customer escalates then let the supervisor handle it ha.
