My family was also like that, acting like my stammer is something to be swept under the rug and forgotten about, but what they don’t realise is that it’s an integral part of you and can’t just be “solved”. And being fired because of something you can’t control like a stutter is just blatant ableism. I definitely sympathise with you, and although I’m sure that your mother’s intentions aren’t malicious just ignorant, the way she’s forcing you to get speech therapy to “solve” your stammer is probably going to harm how you view your stammer in the long run.
